TRILIGHT
TRILIGHT is a lighting project inspired by Olafur Eliasson’s exhibition Room for One Colour (1997).
Upon seeing a photo from the exhibition, I recalled a childhood memory—sitting in the back seat of my father’s car during a family trip, passing through a dark tunnel illuminated by yellow sodium lights, watching my hands turn pale.
Low-pressure sodium lamps, due to their short wavelength, eliminate the color of everything they illuminate, reducing the world to a single hue.
While most of these tunnel lights have now been replaced by LEDs, I wanted to preserve the memory of that moment through light.
The 80W lamp used in TRILIGHT is extremely bright, requiring partial shielding.
Even when closed, it emits enough light to fill a room.
The triangular structure surrounding the lamp incorporates slits and hinged doors, allowing two distinct modes of use.
TRILIGHT
TRILIGHT는 올라퍼 엘리아슨(Olafur Eliasson)의 전시 Room for One Colour (1997)에서 출발한 프로젝트이다.
그의 전시 사진을 보고, 어린 시절 가족여행 중 아버지가 운전하는 승용차 뒷좌석에서 노란 등이 켜진 어두운 터널을 지나며
내 손이 창백해지던 순간이 떠올랐다.
저온 나트륨램프는 단파장의 특성으로 인해, 빛을 받은 모든 물체의 색을 없애고 하나의 색으로 물들인다.
지금은 터널의 조명이 대부분 LED로 대체되어 사라져가는 광원이지만, 그 순간의 기억을 조명으로 남기고자 했다.
너무 눈부신 80W의 램프는 일부를 가려야 했고, 닫혀 있어도 공간을 충분히 밝힐 수 있는 빛이 되었다.
빛을 감싸는 슬릿과 도어로 이루어진 삼각형 조형은 조명의 두 가지 사용 방식을 가능하게 한다.
